Ms. Rigzin Padma Tsogyal, Founder/ Director, Draktsho, was awarded the National Order of Merit, Gold (National Day 2014) from His Majesty The King, in recognition of her contributions in empowering children & youth with disabilities to achieve self-reliance & independence through vocational training & education. “Jigme Wangmo is a pioneer. In 2001 she founded Draktsho Vocational Training Centre for Special Children and Youth supported principally by the Youth Development Fund (YDF). Draktsho is the first and only facility of its kind in Bhutan. Since then she worked tirelessly for its development so that children and youth with disabilities can be educated and trained in vocational and life skills to lead useful and self-sufficient lives. Jigme Wangmo also initiated a Sheltered Workshop in the form of a Bakery to give employment opportunities to intellectually challenged youths. She is also a prominent sportswoman and an inspiration to the women of her country and to all who know her.”
